Thank You!

The 15th Vienna International Workshop on Functional Electrical Stimulation and the 30 Years IFESS Anniversary marked an important milestone for our community. The meeting focused on bridging the gap between innovation and real-world application. Key topics included the accessibility, effectiveness, and integration of FES into daily life; user experiences and training approaches; and the challenges of funding and reimbursement across diverse healthcare systems. Regulatory aspects such as CE marking, MDR compliance, and global frameworks were addressed with practical insights for startups and industry professionals.
By reflecting on past successes and setbacks, participants highlighted the importance of clinical trials and user feedback in shaping future directions. The discussions underscored both the progress achieved and the steps still required to foster broader adoption and effectiveness of FES technologies.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all speakers for their valuable contributions, to the chairpersons for their support, to our sponsors and exhibitors for their engagement, and to the audience for their active and constructive participation.
This joint celebration has been both inspiring and memorable, and we thank all who contributed to its success.

We are honored that IFESS commemorated its 30th anniversary with us, and that the first Dejan Popovic Award was presented to Milos Popovic during this conference.
ViennaFES | Cybersportday 2025

For the very first time, this conference will feature a new highlight: a FES-Cycling Race. In this exciting event, individuals with spinal cord injury will compete head-to-head on a flat track in a real-life, over-ground race – powered solely by their paralyzed legs re-activated through FES.
This race is more than just a competition. Beyond showcasing athletic performance, it serves as a platform to foster connections, exchange experiences and inspire innovation. Our goal is to raise awareness for the transformative potential of FES technology, outside the scope of traditional therapeutic applications.
Be part of this inspiring event – join us on the 16.09.2025 to explore FES-assisted mobility and discover the exciting possibilities of FES in sports!
